Associate Professor Vinh Lu

Vinh Lu is the Associate Dean (Advancement & Engagement) in the ANU College of Business and Economics (CBE). He provides support and advice to the CBE Dean and the CBE Executive in strategic matters related to alumni relations, philanthropy, and externally-engaged student learning. He previously held the titles of Director of Engaged Learning (July 2015-December 2017) and Director of Employability (2018).

In his leadership roles, Vinh has successfully led the development of and provided strategic oversight on various College-wide initiatives that contribute to enriching student experience, learner engagement and employability skill growth. These initiatives include:

Vinh currently maintains a large portfolio of industry partnerships/linkages with the local business community and government agencies for the betterment of student's learning experience. He has also led multiple successful funding applications and engagements on behalf of the College and University, attracting more than $1.2 million funding support from industry partners and government agencies for student learning opportunities. Vinh currently serves as a member of the ANU Academic Board (2018-2020 term, following the 2016-2018 term).

Vinh Lu is also an Associate Professor in Marketing and International Business in the ANU Research School of Management. He has published several refereed articles in leading publication outlets including Academy of Management Journal, Health Psychology, Tourism Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Service Management, Management International Review, Journal of Service Theory and Practice, Health Promotion InternationalHigher Education Research & DevelopmentJournal of Services MarketingJournal of Strategic Marketing, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Personality and Individual DifferencesAustralasian Marketing JournalService Industries Journal, Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics, among others. He is conducting research in the areas of services delivery, career development, and relationship marketing.

Vinh is a multi-award winning educatorA passionate and enthusiastic teacher, he enjoys delivering a variety of courses in the International Business and Marketing disciplines, across undergraduate, Honours, and postgraduate levels. His classes are lively, informative, and engaging, with a strong focus on authenticity. Vinh's sustained commitment to student learning especially in the Work Integrated Learning and employability sphere has been recognised with several prestigious awards such as:

Vinh was born and raised in Bến Tre, a city in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, with the Vietnamese script of Lữ Nhật Vinh. He holds both Australian and Vietnamese citizenships and has resided in Canberra with his partner since 2010. In his spare time, Vinh enjoys cooking, reading, jogging around different lakes and hills in Canberra, and practising Yin and hot yoga. He has participated in multiple half-marathons and his goal is to run below the 1 hour and 45 minute mark one day.
