Associate Professor Vinh Lu


PhD (The University of Adelaide), B.Commerce (Honours), B.Commerce (Marketing and International Business), Cert. III in Government, Dip. Market Research.


Associate Professor Vinh Lu is the Director of Engaged Learning in the ANU College of Business and Economics (CBE). He provides support and advice to the CBE Dean and the CBE Executive in developing the CBE strategy in relation to student employability and externally-engaged student learning. 

Vinh has successfully led and developed the folowing College-wide initiatives that contribute to enriching student experience and engagement as well as developing their professional identity whilst at the University:

Vinh currently manages a large portfolio of industry partnerships/linkages with the local business community and governemnt agencies. He plays an instrumental role in fostering sustained international partnerships with multiple institutionals in Asia, Europe and North America. He has led multiple successful funding applications and engagements on behalf of the College and University, attracting more than $1 million funding support from industry partners and government agencies for student learning opportunities. Vinh currently serves as a member of the ANU Academic Board (2016-2018 term).

Vinh Lu is also an Associate Professor in Marketing and International Business in the ANU Research School of Management. He has published several refereed articles in leading publication outlets including Academy of Management Journal, Health Psychology, Tourism Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Ethics, Personality and Individual Differences, Journal of Strategic Marketing, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Australasian Marketing JournalService Industries Journal, Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics, among others. He is conducting research in the areas of services delivery, B2B relationships, career development and entrepreneurship, and export marketing. Vinh is a proud member of the Work Effectiveness and Leadership Laboratory (WELL), known for its inter-disciplinary, innovative, and practically relevant research projects.

Vinh is a multi-award winning educatorA passionate and enthusiastic teacher, he enjoys delivering a variety of courses in the International Business and Marketing disciplines, across undergraduate, Honours, and postgraduate levels. His classes are lively, informative, and engaging, with a strong focus on authenticity. Vinh's sustained commitment to student learning especially in the Work Integrated Learning sphere has been recognised with several prestigious awards such as:

Vinh was born and raised in Bến Tre, a province in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, with the Vietnamese script of Lữ Nhật Vinh. He holds both Australian and Vietnamese citizenships and resides with his partner in Canberra since 2010. In his spare time, Vinh enjoys cooking, reading, jogging, and practising Bikram yoga. He has participated in multiple half-marathons and his goal is to run below the 1 hour and 45 minute mark one day.
